The Fairy Pools

The Magical Allure of the Fairy Pools, Isle of Skye
Tucked into the foothills of the Black Cuillin mountains on the Isle of Skye lies a place so enchanting, it feels straight from a fantasy novel – the Fairy Pools. These crystal-clear, aqua-blue pools are fed by a series of cascading waterfalls, tumbling down from the Glen Brittle River. The water is icy cold, but that doesn’t stop brave souls from taking a refreshing dip (or a gasp-inducing splash)!
Legend has it the Fairy Pools are frequented by the fae folk of Scottish folklore – though whether they approve of selfies is anyone’s guess. What’s undeniable is the sense of otherworldly calm that surrounds this spot.
The walk to the pools is about 2.5km round trip and offers stunning views, especially on a clear day when the Cuillins are mirrored in the still water. It can get boggy, so sturdy footwear is a must, and keep an eye on the ever-changing Skye weather.
Whether you’re wild swimming, snapping photos, or simply sitting in silence listening to the waterfalls, the Fairy Pools offer a moment of magic on your Scottish journey. Just remember – take only photos, leave only footprints… and maybe watch for tiny wings in the mist.
We'll spend about an hour here before making our way to Armadale and the ferry that will take us on the half hour trip to Mallaig back on the mainland
